If the chili and weather gods are smiling Jan. 15, you may be able to wear a swimsuit or shorts in Galveston while sampling foods and beverages at Yaga’s Chili Quest and Beer Fest in a historic area near the Port of Galveston.
Chili chefs will compete for the title of best chili on Galveston Island for 2011.
The beer fest was added to the chili event this year. Festivalgoers may buy a punch card and tasting cup that grant them access to gourmet beers.
Other activities include a noncompetitive 5K Run/Walk, a jalapeño-eating contest and a margarita-making contest. Call 409-770-0999 for more information.
